Well, Sandy hit us all very hard in the NY region. I lost power Sunday and just got it back Yesterday (Friday). So now that power is back, but not internet (thanks to my friends at Standard Burger in Staten Island for letting me use their wifi), I wanted to help my fellow Staten Islanders….
Tomorrow, Sunday, November 4th, we are going to roll out the tailgate trailer to a hard hit part of Staten Island and show the NFL games and hand out over 1,000 hot dogs and 100lbs of grilled Polish sausage free to those who are without electricity, food, or homes as well as the first responders and countless volunteers giving of their time. I went and spent about $900 today at Restaurant Depot on dogs, buns, sausage and everything I need. I may set up a donation link, but right now I just don’t have the time and I want to get out there ASAP and help and hopefully give some people at least a few hours of normalcy in what has been the most devestating week I have ever seen my fellow NYers and Staten Islanders go through. We will have at least 2 tvs showing the games.
So please come on by, have a hot dog, watch some football, and enjoy at least a little bit of Football Sunday with us! Make sure to share this on your facebook and tweet and let any Staten Islanders know about this!
We are planning on setting up the trailer at:
Mill Rd by New Dorp High School Near the Red Cross. Look for the white Dodge Ram pickup and Black/Green trailer with Jets flag pole. This is a fluid situation, and location may change, so please follow us on twitter at @tailgatejoe to get the most up-to-date info.
