This burger came about after spending so much time in South Florida both running a food truck and just running away from becoming an adult. Spending so much time soaking up that Florida sun and lifestyle, you can’t help but fall in love with the latin cuisine that is part of the DNA of Miami and greater South Florida.
This burger is a classic example of Colombian street food and their burger style. Colombians love a messy burger, as they pile on multiple sauces and toppings. The classic example, and the one I made here, has the 4 main toppings food in virtually all Colombian burgers, garlic mayo, pink sauce, pineapple sauce, and crushed potato chips. These sauces aren’t just random, they actually compliment each other in balancing sweat, savory, and salty in a more crude version of what Asian cuisine is known for.
The one glaring negative I found with this style of burger served throughout South Florida was the actual anchor of the whole thing, the actual burger patty. More often than not, it was a very cheap low quality beef that HAD to have all these sauces to make it palatable. That is one of the things that makes my version stand out, using top quality Lafrieda beef, just as we do for all of the burgers served at my events.
I feel that this burger is so perfect and mind-altering, that I went ahead and bought the domain sabrosaburger.com. I am going to experiment with different takes on the classic sauces and combinations, and add some other proteins both in place and in addition to the beef burger. Definitely look for the parties where we will be serving this, because you will want one!
