Due to some problems we ran into and are still running into involving the blizzard from last week, we are not going to be able to host our tailgate party this week. Putting on the kind and size parties we do involves a lot of moving parts, and as many of you know, we have always been able to roll with the punches and whatever weather is thrown at us. Unfortunately we just have to much going wrong this time and when looking at the extremely low prepays for this game, the forecast for rain, the meaningless nature of the game for our standings and playoff seeding, and the most likely possibility of the majority of key starters not playing, it just makes very little sense to spend the money and hoops we have to jump through to get a party together for a game which looks like it will have a low turnout to begin with.
Just to list some of the problems we are dealing with:
- As of 12am Thursday morning my street is still in very rough condition and there is no way the parking situation on the street will be cleared up by Saturday morning, which means big issues with getting the trailer here and loaded.
- The driveway is a sheet of ice, more trailer issues
- The Pickup truck is out of commission after one too many friendly pull outs the night of the storm messed up the tranny
- One of the 20 ft tents is broke from the last party, which means a 4 hour trip and $400 to replace for 1 game! Rain is forecast.
The trailer and pickup are pretty integral to what we need in order to put this whole thing on, and I don’t want to have to wait until the last second to secure another tow vehicle and see if I can get the trailer situated at the house, causing even more of an inconvenience for people.
Sorry to anyone who was counting on us.
On the flip side, we are going to have some great newsin the next few days in regards to the 2011 season. Let’s just say that ANY Jets fans throughout the country will be able to partake in the TailgateJoe Experience regardless of where they go to see the Jets play! Stay tuned for more info!
