After seeing a huge increase in membership in the Jets Tailgate Fanclub, we went out and made some serious improvements in our gear. For those of you who came to the last 2-3 home games last season, you saw the new 6 foot+ stainless grill we are now using. After spending the last 2 years begging and borrowing (thanks to my father and brother) other people’s trucks, we now have a brand new TGJ dedicated pickup, a 2011 Ram 1500 crew cab laramie with a hemi engine. After using a 6×8 uhaul and then a 6×12 uhaul, we purchased a brand new Haulmark 7×16 v nose trailer, which should greatly help with loading and unloading and allow us complete freedom without having to rely on renting or borrowing.
Having a trailer of this size of our own also means we can roll out some new amenities, like flat panel tvs and Directv with the NFL Sunday ticket, which is perfect for all the late games we have this season! We also plan on having better music, which was the single biggest request from the last season.
We are also increasing the number of beer taps, the beer is always free flowing, now it will flow even faster!
Obviously, these things cost money, and as any of you who have been to our parties knows, we aren’t a catering company and TGJ is nothing more than a few die hard Jets fans and friends. We are happy to break even at the end of the day. To help offset these costs, there is a small (around $5) increase from last year. We didn’t really want to do that with the way the economy currently is, but at the same time we really want to improve an already great game day experience.
